A Victorian ebonised and gilt brass mounted mantel clock by James McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, the 7.5ins arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, chime/silent and chime/selector dial to arch to the eight day three train and fusee movement with anchor escapement striking on a gong and chiming on nine bells, with engraved back plate, contained in arched and moulded top case with pineapple finials, cast arched gilt brass door, on brass ogee pattern feet, 25.25ins high Note : James McCabe, Cheapside and Royal Exchange, Apprenticed 1778, a Member of the Clockmakers Company 1781, and died 1811. The business was continued under the same name by his sons until 1883. This clock probably dates to circa 1875.
