A late 18th Century mahogany longcase clock by Thomas Mercer of Hythe, the 12ins arched painted dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, the arch painted with a river landscape with a figure fishing to foreground to the eight day two train movement striking on a bell, contained in mahogany London style case inlaid with fan motifs, the hood with caddy top and turned and fluted pillars, shaped and moulded trunk door flanked by fluted quarter columns, the base with applied astragal mouldings, and double moulded plinth, 89ins high Note : Thomas Mercer recorded working Hythe and Folkestone pre 1751-1805
