F. Hughes (20th Century British) - Oil painting - Study of the battleship H.M.S. Hood in stormy waters with one other vessel alongside, artists board, 16ins x 27.5ins, signed and dated 1940, in gilt frame with applied rope decoration
Provenance: Given by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother to The British Maritime Charitable Foundation to be auctioned (date unknown). The work was presented to George VI and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in 1940.
Note: A letter from Clarence House, dated 13th November 1986 and signed by Comptroller to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother provides these details and is available with this lot.
