Lot 432Saturday 01 Oct, 2022 - 10.00am
A Rare Worcester Coffee Cup, Circa 1753-54, of quatrelobed form, pencilled in black with flowering branches and a moth, the interior rim with flowers picked out in gilt, 2.75ins high
Note: There is some suggestion that these rare cups did not have matching saucers, the cups being passed around on silver trays
Note: This unusual decoration is possibly based on a Chinese prototype. An example of this pattern on a tea bowl and saucer was sold by Bonhams, 10th September 2008, lot 71 as part of the Zorka Hodgeson Collection of English Porcelain
