***Stephen J. Card (20th /21st Century English) - Oil painting - Ship Portrait - "Lawhill of Finland" - Steel hulled four masted Barque in full sail in choppy seas, signed, board 18ins x 24ins, in modern gilt moulded frame
Note: Lawhill was built at the Caledon Shipbuilding yard of W.B.Thompson in Dundee, Scotland and launched in 1892 and originally used for the Jute trade. It was sold to Finnish owner August Troburg in 1914 and used for general cargo trade throughout the First World War and later for carrying grain before being broken up in 1959 after having been confiscated by the South African Government in 1942.
