A Japanese "Satsuma" pottery wine vessel and cover modelled in the form of a mythical bird, the whole decorated in blue, turquoise, orange, green and yellow with a dragon and stylised pattern design, 6.75ins (172mm) high (unmarked - Meiji period) Provenance : Purchased from Joyce's, 13 Quarry Street, Guildford, Surrey, 17th March 1962, and with copy of receipt indicating from the Collection of Sir Adrian Boult
