An 18th Century Continental walnut panelled coffer with plain lid, the triple panelled front boldly carved with fruit, leafage and birds heads, flanked by columns carved with a hand holding a ring and fruit, the front apron shaped and carved with scroll and circular paterae, 50ins wide x 21ins deep x 31ins high (generally slightly wormed, scuffed and damaged) Provenance : The Princess Philippine De Merode, removed from Chateau La Briserie, near Mons, region of Hainault, Belgium, and thence by family descent
