A good William III plain silver lidded tankard, the flat lid with moulded flanged rim and cast scroll thumbpiece, the plain tapered body with bold S-scroll handle and moulded footrim, 7.375ins high, maker's mark "V.N" in heart shaped reserve (see Charles Jackson - "English Goldsmiths and Their Marks", Macmillan and Co. London 1921 - page 156), hallmarked London 1701 (weight 23.5ozs)
