A silver circular rose bowl of George III design, with shaped rim and reeded body, on circular footrim, the whole embossed with flowers, leaves and berries, 10.5ins diameter x 7.25ins high, with spurious Georgian marks for Charles Wright, London 1773 (marks now cancelled and re-assayed by London Assay Office 2019 - gross weight 38ozs), in pine fitted box bearing label for S. Solomon, 1 Bridge Foot Cliffe, Lewes
Provenance: Presented to Aubrey Hillman of Saxonbury, Lewes, by Sussex County Council on his retirement as chairman approximately 100 year ago. Vendor's grandfather's aunt was governess to Hillman's children and became his second wife on the death of Mrs Hillman. Thence by family descent.
