An unusual ebonised miniature bracket clock, the 3.5ins arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, the arch with circular panel signed "Alex Giroust of London", the dial centre engraved with a Tudor rose and with pierced steel hands, to the eight day two train movement with verge escapement and bulbous turned pillars, the rear plate engraved with a basket of flowers and leaf scroll ornament, contained in 18th Century ebonised case with bell top and folding brass carrying handle, on later brass ogee feet, 10.25ins high (movement substantially rebuilt)
Note: Alexander Giroust recorded working in London 1728-1739, with a lacquer bracket clock in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
