Late 17th Century French School - Oil painting - Portrait of the young Louis, Dauphin of France (1661-1711), canvas 15.5ins x 11.75ins, in gilt frame
Note: Louis, the elder son of Louis XIV of France and Maria Theresa of Austria. On the birth of his son he was styled the Grand Dauphin, his son, Louis, Duke of Burgundy being styled the Petit Dauphin. A very similar, but slightly larger portrait of this subject is housed in the Chateau de Bussy - Rabutin, France.
