An early 19th Century mahogany drop dial wall clock by Garland of Plymouth, the 12ins diameter painted domed metal dial with Roman numerals, to the eight day single train movement, with brass plates with shaped tops and knopped pillars, contained in mahogany case, the cast brass bezel with dome glass, flanked by narrow turned bezel, with fan pattern wings, the drop base with curved lower part inlaid with brass stringings, patterae and floral ornament, 24.5ins high
Note: Richard Garland recorded as a watch and clock maker at 21, Market Street, Plymouth in 1822 and then at 41 High Street from 1830 to 1850. Further details can be found in "Devon Clocks and Clockmakers" by C.N Ponsford.
