A Late 17th/Early 18th Century Walnut and Marquetry Longcase Clock, by Brounker Watts of London, the 11ins square brass dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, matted dial centre with subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, cast gilt brass winged angels head spandrels interspersed with engraved leaf ornament, to the eight day two train five pillar movement with outside locking plate striking on a bell, contained in walnut and marquetry case, the hood with overhanging moulded cornice above fretted frieze and with spiral turned columns, the door face and moulded edge inlaid with trailing leaf and floral marquetry, the matched panel door with circular glass lenticule within crossbanded borders and with conforming panel plinth on bracket feet, 86ins high
Note: Brounker Watts recorded working in Fleet Street, London. Apprenticed to Joseph Knibb 1684. Member of the Clockmakers Company 1693. Died 1719.
