June Auction Preview: Gorgeous Oriental and Nautical Jewellery


A gorgeous selection of oriental and nautical jewellery will be up for auction this June at The Canterbury Auction Galleries.

Nautical Bracelet - Estimated at £3500-4500

A rare gold coloured metal nautical themed bracelet, the nine oval blocks with rope twist pattern centres, the central block hung with a sailor's hat pattern charm set with a compass, with a cockleshell and blue enamel anchor to one side, each with a glass panel to reverse with woven hair, 215mm overall (gross weight 48 grammes), contained in red leather fitted case retailed by W.M. Acheson & Co, 109 Grafton Street, Dublin
Note : Metal unmarked but tests as gold

Anchor Pendant - Estimated at £2000-3000

A late Victorian gold coloured metal blue enamel diamond and pearl set anchor pattern pendant, the face set with twenty-four old cut diamonds within a pale blue and dark blue enamel border, and suspending a pearl with a rose diamond set finial, 70mm x 35mm overall (estimated diamond weight  2ct - gross weight 7.7 grammes) 



 Royal Yacht Club Dimaond Pendants - Estimated at £1500-2000

A silvery coloured metal mounted ruby, diamond and enamel set Royal Yacht Club Ensign Pennant pattern brooch, pave set with rose cut diamonds and baguette cut rubies surmounted by a gold coloured metal and red enamel crown, 32mm x 35mm overall, and another gold coloured metal mounted brooch similar, 20mm x 25mm overall (gross weight 10.6 grammes)



Filigree Oriental Necklace - Estimated at £1200-1500

A Chinese gold coloured metal jade mounted filigree necklace, the green jade panel 25mm x 40mm overall, in fine filigree setting suspended from six panels worked with flowers and butterflies on a double chain necklet, 500mm overall (gross weight 17.6 grammes) 



Large Filigree Oriental Necklace - Estimated at £4000-6000

A Chinese gold coloured metal filigree necklace, the central oval panel worked with a peacock, 35mm x 25mm overall, suspending a larger oval panel of a peacock with serpent, 43mm x 50mm overall, with two oblong panels to either side with a scrolling serpent, interlinked by three double loop chains, 465mm overall (gross weight 83.7 grammes)



Oriental Filigree Brooch and Earrings - Estimated at £2500-3000

A Chinese gold coloured metal mounted coral set oval filigree brooch with a finely worked peacock to centre with small coral beads to the beaded border, 42mm x 33mm overall, and a pair of matching pendant drop earrings (for pierced ears), the bird suspending a coral set bunch of grapes from its beak, 40mm overall (gross weight 19.2 grammes), contained in blue silk lined wooden box retailed by Wang Hing
